A few words from the
Festival´s artistic director

« Dear all,

It is a great pleasure for me to welcome you in the stunning Norrköping Concert Hall this spring for the first edition of a festival that promises to be very exciting!

We are going to celebrate the revival of Anton Edvard Pratté’s excellent music!

Pratté, born in Bohemia in 1797, had however a strong connection to the town and the surroundings of Norrköping, as he spent most of his life here and is even buried in Ledberg (located 40kms southwest from Norrköping) , where he died in 1875! Pratté had a very successful career in Sweden, Scandinavia and all over Europe both as harp virtuoso and composer, along with his contemporary harpists Elias Parish – Alvars or John Thomas, but he sadly never published his works during his lifetime. A couple of years ago I totally by coincidence came across his manuscripts and I’m really happy today to have the opportunity through this festival to introduce Pratté’s music to the world!

The festival will take place between May 9th and May 12th 2019 in Norrköping De Geerhallen (Norrköping Concert Hall), Sweden.

Every day there will be concerts and masterclasses, with focus on Pratté’ s music of course, but even on his contemporary harpist composers so that we can be able to get a wider pictures of the 19th century harp world.
Salvi Harps and Lyon and Healy will exhibit a wide range of celtic, study and concert harps in Norrköping Concert Hall during the whole festival.

You will also have the opportunity to listen to rising star harpists at the International Competition for Young Talents.

We are also very happy to welcome all the festival artists and jury members,  including Mrs Catherine MICHEL, Birgitte VOLAN HÅVIK, Sandrine CHATRON, Sophia STECKELER and Laura STEPHENSON.

The first notes of Pratté music will naturally be performed by the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra (Pratté was actually chief conductor of Norrkoping Symphony ancestor!) at the opening night, when I will have the privilege to re-premiere the wonderful Pratté Harp Concerto under the baton of Maestria Dalia STASEVSKA. Later on, a smaller number of Norrkoping Symphony Orchestra musicians will perform at the festival as part of the ensemble Camarata Ostrogothia, under the baton of Maestro Roman Reznik.

We are also delighted to welcome Mr Naji HAKIM  as Composer – in-Residence of the festival!

Last but not least, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Norrköpings Kommun, Ståhl Invest, Salvi Harps and Lyon and Healy, Levande Musik Arv, Norrköping Symphony Orchestra and all of those who have helped me organizing to have made with their different contributions this event possible!

Looking forward to see you soon in Norrköping at the first edition of Pratté International Harp Festival and Competition!!! «
